Hello
everyone!
Well it looks like it's been a while since my last post. Yes
and what I bring you today turns out to be a sharing of that place which for me it’s almost like a second home.
That place it's called London!! :)
The first time I went there
was in 2007!
My
first big trip by plane without my parents, that excitement!
I went with two friends from college
and we stayed very close to the center
of the city in Russell Square. Our hotel was
no big deal, in fact it was an hostel
- Generator hotel - and it was our worst
choice…but we wanted a cheap one so we have what we’ve payed for. The showers
were always cold unless you got up every
morning at 6 am and we also had to
get up very early to find everything very clean. Breakfast was nothing at all too.
On the 2nd and 3rd
time 2008 and 2010 respectively the hotels were amazing specially the last one
St Giles Hotel in Tottenham Court Road. The room service and breakfast were
amazing and it’s the best situated hotel I’ve ever been. The price was quite
good too and that’s another important part. It also has a tube station about 50
mt from there and it’s in the beginning of Oxford St.

But what really matters here is to talk about what made me fall in love with this city.
Can you imagine how it is going to walk
on the sidewalk and suddenly we see the squirrels side by side with
us? It is amazing and they are so cuddly creatures! I have found some at
the Coffees background at the parks, playing and searching on the cones boxes
for some food.

Red Telephone Box |
And what about Those BIG Red Busses and the Red Telephone Boxes?!?! They
are fantastic and I think they will always be two of the greatest symbols of London.
|
BIG Red Bus - This was an old one but still in action :) |
If you don’t want to spend money on tour busses
like the sightseeing ones or others you can always pic a regular red bus like
this and enjoy the view from the city specially from the first floor and on the
first seats.
They go to a lot and different destinies so you can go everywhere in the city
by bus and know the city pretty well.
And talking about transports I couldn’t forget
the amazing Underground system they have.
This year they made 150 years of existence
and it’s the 3rd most big in the entire world. There’s always a tube
station nearby and when you already know the city this is the best and fast way
to go somewhere.

Piccadilly
|
Piccadilly 2008 |
Piccadilly is perhaps the place from which we can
go everywhere. It
is always a place full of people moving from one place to another and where two of the busiest shopping streets of the city, Oxford St. and Regent St meet. It
is also where the
Fountain of Eros is and also a place that serves
as a meeting point for many young people.
In Piccadilly there’s a place called Trocadero with many stores for teenagers
and for people who loves Japanese stuffs and so on. If you want to get
different candies from all over the world you also have CyberCandy that sells
them, you should take a look, it really worth it.

The Oxford St.
OxfordSt. is the paradise of shopping in London. You have many department stores like
Marks & Spencer or John Lewis or Selfridges, drugstores like Superdrug (wich
is my favorite) or Boots that sells make up, hygiene products, and so on, shoes
stores – ALDO, Schuh, Footlocker, clothes stores like New Look, Top Shop, American
Appareil, toys stores like Disney Store or Hamleys… well everything you can
imagine they have there ;)

Regent
Street is also a very famous street if you want to shop big brands. Known by
some expensive stores like Burberry and there’s also a National Geographic
store here wich is amazing. It seems that you have entered into a completely
different world because of their wild decoration. They also have Japan Centre
on Regent St wich is a Japanese supermarket wich many food goodies – my
favorites are pocky’s eh eh they have them in all kind of flavors and textures!

Big Ben and Westminster Abbey
And
now one of the most emblematic monuments they have, The Big Ben. Oh my God it’s
so so big! I guess it’s one of my favorite places in this city. Right beside it
there’s Westminster Abbey. It’s an amazing church like a WOW one! This is where the royal weddings are realized
and where the kings are crowned. It’s also here were some known guys are buried
like Sir Isaac Newton.

Tower Bridge
Another
amazing monument is Tower Bridge. If you walk through it you can watch the HUGE
crows that are always there. The first time I saw them I must confess…they
scared me :P

A
walk across the river is always delightfull! You can enjoy the view to the Tower of London and to the HMS Belfast the boat that is on the Thames river wich is also a museum boat from the imperial war.
Also if you had time and money because in this city you had to bring money with
you, you can go visit Tower of London.

This is a place that really has to be seen. Hopefully still catch the changing of the guard that is a very beautiful ceremony. One of the times that I was there i witnessed, the guards came riding out of the palace and paraded down the street in front of the same. The ceremony takes place every other day promptly at 11 am.

Covent Garden
This is with no doubt one of my favourite places here.
I love the whole atmosphere that surrounds this place from the street shops to the animations constants jugglers, magicians and opera singers.
Some of my favorite shops are also present here as Lush, a cosmetics store fresh and hand-made only passing the wonderful smell in the air. It is also here that the David & Goliath (also present in Carnaby St. one of the busiest streets for teens) is. This store has some of the msot kawaii and funny draws i've ever seen :)

Camden Town
I could live here :D
This is probably the place where the most different people cohabit. I feel so good in here :)
There are some street markets here and a lot of stores too. The Camden Market is probably one of the most known and the Stables as well. You can enjoy great walks accross the river and eat some great food from all over the world.
